OHS Safety Policy
Our safety vision: – To have a safe workplace and a culture of taking safety seriously by all.
Purpose
Workzone must have a culture characterised by:
• A commitment to our safety vision, safe behaviours and practices, and continual improvement.
• A climate in which people are willing to report safety risks, incidents and near-misses.
• An atmosphere of trust in which people are encouraged and rewarded for communicating essential safety-related information.
• A willingness and competency to draw constructive conclusions from safety accidents and incidents, and implement reforms when required.
Policy Statement
Workzone is dedicated to creating and maintaining a company where:
• Open communication and trust fosters a positive and a safety culture throughout the organisation.
• Our employees, sub-contractors, labour-hire employees and the general public are safe from injury and workplace-related illness.
• Risks are pro-actively managed to minimise incidents.
• The success of our OHR&S shall be assured by management and their total commitment to safety within the company in accordance with Australian Standard AS/NZS 4801:2001
The foundation of our safety policy is summarised in these principles:
• Good safety performance requires planning, training, consultation, supervision and accountability.
• Risks are identified and either eliminated or effectively managed.
• All requirements of OHRS safety legislation are met.
• We are all responsible for safety.
• All injuries are preventable.
To foster these principles and implement our policy, Workzone will:
• Establishes measurable objectives and targets and provides the necessary resources aimed at continually improving safety performance and elimination of illness and injury.
• Employs strong processes to monitor and review safety performance and implementation of this policy at every level through audit and investigation, Safety Officer, reporting and open communication.
• Establishes formal safety accountabilities and performance reviews for all our managers and supervisors.
• Consults with employees, sub-contractors and labour hire employees on matters impacting workplace health and safety.
• Plans for continual improvement.
• Trains employees and develops their safety competencies.
• Broadcast appropriate safety information to employees, sub-contractors, labour hire employees and visitors to Workzone premises.
